I Love the Rain

Guys, I love rainy days. Especially when I'm indoors? In my house, where I can be a comic book character in peace and test out recipes? Absolute heaven! There are so many things I could do on those days. When I'm daydreaming about rainy days, this is usually the kind of daydream I have, or what would usually happen(in real life) on such days.

Imagine you have the afternoon to yourself, having either adulted earlier. The sky is darker than a day in Gotham, and it is very likely to rain. You barely make it to your house before the first drops hit the ground. Safe and sound in your haven, you get rid of your outside clothes as you step into the shower. Connecting your bluetooth to Deezer, Giveon's soothing voice accompanies you as you step into the shower to wean off the day's chaos. Damn that man got pipes! The warm water beats onto your skin welcomingly, almost in rhythm with the rain gaining momentum outside. Squeaky clean skin and an album massacre later, you step outside out and proceed to pamper your moist skin in some luxurious moisturizer. Yes, ashy skin is not allowed even on days spent with yourself.

In a t-shirt and socks, you light up some candles and get to the kitchen and make yourself some hot chocolate. The rain outside pounds on like a rejected man at his lover's door. You're in a great mood! As you proceed to butcher the playlist, you whip up some blueberry lemon cookies. Can I just say, Blueberries are poverty in a Gucci belt. Unlike strawberries which deliver on aesthetics, blueberries are medium ugly and taste like assignments on Friday college night. I digress. As the oven works its magic on your mixture, you make a cup of coffee and cozy up in a fleece and proceed with your current read, Nearly All The Men in Lagos are Mad. From your perspective, that book could as well have been talking about Nairobi men because have you read those stories? Ha!

The ding! of the oven brings you back from Nigeria, and you feel the dopamine rise from the lemony smell filling your house. You take the cookies out of the oven, refresh the coffee and nestle back into your seat. At this moment, hilarious book in hand, sipping your coffee everything seems perfect. An island could be getting swallowed by the sea, a volcano could be exploding, and nations could be at war but none of it matters. There is a surreal feeling of safety that comes with being indoors during a thunderstorm. You don't sleep during a thunderstorm indoors, your body hibernates and takes a rest. You don't fuck in a storm, you make love. I feel like the rain slows things down, and y'all have to find a rhythm in the cold weather. Maybe that's just me.  Heck, even the food is more savory in a storm. I love being indoors during a storm. I think apart from orgasms, it's one of the feelings I enjoy the most. And wouldn't you know it, today I learned there is a name for this feeling. Chrysalism
